Summer is here?

We have had a lot going on in our lives, so as a result I haven't had much of a chance to update this. For those who read my blog, I apologize.

First - updates to previous blogs -

I wrote about an issue I had with an auction on eBay - it turned out that the seller was unable (or unwilling?) to help, however he sent me the contact info of the company that manufactured the product, and they took care of everything for me - so problem resolved - but not without a little work on my part.

Now - to today -

Here it is, July 3rd - and it seems like we have had hardly any summer yet - it has been rainy and stormy more often than not, so the yard has been too wet to do much, and outdoor activities are few & far between.  BUT - I was able to reseed my yard, and so far it is doing great.   A friend of mine recommended using Tall Fescue grass seed, which I did, and it is exceeding all expectations.

Now you would think that a greenhouse would stock multiple types of grass seed - after all, they are a greenhouse.  But Noooo - they only stock one type, and it is a hodgepodge of many types of grass.  I ended up finding the seed I wanted at Runnings!  So, after a day of tilling & planting, and a month of watering (with a LOT of help from Mother Nature) I now have a lush, green yard again!

Now our goal is to turn our yard into a "staycation paradise".  We have picnic tables, a BBQ, lawn chairs, and a propane powered "firepit".   So far, so good.  We have a ways to go, but are seeing the light at thend of the tunnel.

Our next project is a bathroom.  Since my wife has Fibromyalgia, it is very hard for her to get in & out of a standard tub - so we want to put a walk-in shower in it's place - but since we live in an older mobile home, finding one to fit is almost impossible, and to custom-make one would be way beyond our budget.   So, we are converting one of the bedrooms into a bathroom - we moved a wall (easy to do in a mobile home - few, if any of the interior walls are support walls), and are now tearing out the old carpeting, cabinetry, etc. and preoaring to put a new bathroom in this area from scratch.   A lot of work, but us "do-it-yourself"ers can handle it easily.

THEN - we will be converting the old bathroom into a laundry room.  Currently our laundry room is in the kitchen, and makes for tight spaces, and limited designability.  So we will install the hookups for the washer & dryer in the old bathroom, and put in shelving & such for extra storage.

In actuality, these projects have been going on for about a year - but we always seem to get sidetracked, and sometimes its inavailability of funds.  But we will get there - some day.

THe good thing is, phase 1 of our kitchen remodel is DONE - a new stove, fridge, cabinet rearrangments, a new stove hood and (since they are now in the kitchen) a new washer & dryer.   So, project 1 marked done.

Well, that's all for now - hope to be back soon!
